How Tax Samjho (taxsamjho.com) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use our free tax calculators, read our finance blog, or create documents online.

Quick summary — Most Tax Samjho tools work entirely in your browser. We do not upload salary figures, PAN, bank statements, or the files you edit. We collect only what is necessary to run the site (basic technical logs) and, if you opt in, anonymised analytics. You can revoke consent, request your data, or ask us to delete it at any time by writing to contact@taxsamjho.com.
1. Who we are (Data Fiduciary)
Tax Samjho ("we", "our", "us") is an independent India-focused finance and tax information website operating at https://taxsamjho.com. For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable, we act as the Data Fiduciary / Controller for personal data collected through this website.

2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to all pages under the taxsamjho.com domain, including tax calculators, the blog, the invoice and rent receipt generators, and the PDF editor. It does not cover third-party websites we link to. When you click an outbound link, that website's own privacy policy applies.
3. Personal data we collect
We collect only the minimum data needed to run the site and give you a useful experience. The table below is our complete inventory:

4. Data we do not collect from calculators
For every calculator on Tax Samjho — the India income tax calculator, CTC salary calculator, EMI calculator, SIP calculator, GST calculator, HRA calculator, FD calculator, and PPF calculator — the numbers you type in never leave your device. Calculations run in JavaScript inside your browser. We do not receive salary, tax deductions, PAN, GSTIN, PPF balances, EMI schedules, or any financial figures.
5. Files you create in the browser
When you use the PDF editor, invoice generator, or rent receipt generator:
- Uploaded PDFs are processed locally in your browser using the PDF.js library. We do not upload the file to our server.
- Invoices and rent receipts are generated as PDFs on your device using jsPDF. The download comes directly from your browser.
- We do not keep copies of any document you generate, edit, or download.
- If you clear browser storage, drafts saved for your convenience are also removed.
6. Blog and news articles
Our blog publishes original, plain-language explainers on Indian income tax, GST, personal finance, and the stock market. When you read a blog post:
- You do not need an account.
- We do not ask for salary, PAN, Aadhaar, bank, or investment details to read content.
- Articles do not contain third-party tracking pixels embedded inside the body text.
- Images used in articles are served from our own servers or credited under fair-use for news reporting.
7. How we use your data
We process personal data only for the specific purposes listed in Section 3. Specifically:
- To operate, maintain, and secure the website
- To respond to your queries or feedback
- To improve tools and articles based on aggregate usage patterns (only if you accept analytics)
- To comply with legal obligations (for example, responding to a court order in India)
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or attacks on the website
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not use it to build advertising profiles beyond the standard AdSense mechanisms you consent to.

10. Your rights under the DPDP Act 2023 and GDPR
You have the following rights over personal data we hold about you:
- Right to access — Ask what personal data we hold and how we use it.
- Right to correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information.
- Right to erasure ("Right to be forgotten") — Ask us to delete your personal data where legally permitted.
- Right to withdraw consent — For analytics or advertising, revoke consent via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
- Right to portability — Receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format (GDPR).
- Right to grievance redressal — Under the DPDP Act, you may raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer within a reasonable time.
- Right to nominate — Under the DPDP Act, you can nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.
- Right to lodge a complaint — With the Data Protection Board of India (once operational) or your local supervisory authority.

11. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. See the retention column in Section 3 for specific periods. When retention ends, we delete or anonymise the data. Backups are automatically rotated within 30 days.
12. Data security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data:
- HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) on every page — traffic between your browser and our server is encrypted.
- Passwords for admin accounts are hashed using bcrypt.
- The database is not exposed to the public internet.
- API keys and secrets in our admin panel are AES-256 encrypted at rest.
- Server access is protected by SSH keys and strong passwords.
No system is 100% secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify affected users and the appropriate authority within 72 hours as required by law.
13. International data transfers
Our servers are primarily located in India. Some processors (Google, jsDelivr) may store data in the EU, US, or other regions. Where transfers occur, we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to protect your data.
14. Children's privacy
Tax Samjho is intended for adults (18+) managing personal or business finances. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Under the DPDP Act, processing of personal data of children under 18 requires verifiable parental consent, which our site does not attempt to obtain. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.
15. Automated decision-making and profiling
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. Tax calculations are performed on your device and do not create legal decisions about you.
16. Do Not Track (DNT)
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no consistent industry standard, we do not currently change behaviour based on DNT. However, our consent banner respects your explicit choice: if you select "Essential only", no analytics or advertising loads regardless of DNT.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we add tools, change how data is handled, or to reflect legal changes. When material changes occur, we will update the "Effective date" and, where required, notify users through a site notice.
